About Us

Vind I Traden translates to “Wind in the Trees” and is embedded deep within our homeschool hearts. Since 2020 we have been building a space where students can learn and explore in their natural surroundings. We have a deep interest in the natural sciences and the diversity of our planet. Our goal has always been for children to see themselves as their own educators and leaders as much as the adults in their lives. We strive to create learning opportunities from everyday interests to community and family shared passions. With backgrounds in education and engineering, along with our three children, I Miranda, and my husband Daniel Beatty have created a school that blends the enjoyment of learning in a community, with the freedom, joy and flexibility that can only be found in homeschooling. For several years we have hosted backyard camps while simultaneously leading a local homeschool cooperative. It is our dream and hope now that we can blend our love of deep and personal learning, with the desire to have a few days a week at home as a family with slow starts and sparks of interest fanned into flames at Academy.

Located in Southwest Norman, Oklahoma on the sandy river basin of the Canadian river, tucked between cottonwoods and fruit trees, Vind I Traden sits on our 3 acre family homestead surrounded by farm fields and open grass prairie. Our students spend as much time out of doors as in, getting dirty in a mud kitchen at the fort, gathering eggs, working in the garden or playing tetherball with friends. When they aren’t exploring the grounds, they are building robots and solving engineering feats or traveling through time in our own little magic tree house.

Our Mission

Our mission at Vind I Traden Academy is to facilitate a learning community that supports homeschool families by offering a part-time space for in-depth extended learning and internal growth of students with their peers, guided by their own intrinsic passion and a highly qualified staff, in order to foster in collaboration with their families, life-long learners and inquisitive thinkers.

Our Educational Philosophy

Vind I Traden Academy uses an integrated approach to curriculum building. The corner stones of our academics are Social Studies, Science, Arts and Community/Culture. In addition, our professionally developed curriculum weaves math and literacy within studies as applicable. This means that your homeschool, in collaboration with our hybrid school, covers all core areas while expanding on the cultural and social/emotional development of students with their peers and community. Students will work in a collaborative environment through Social Studies, Science Studies, passion driven and project driven explorations, guided by certified teachers. As the classroom builds community through the year, deeper areas of study and creativity provide opportunity for community based projects and team developed programs. An emphasis on creative expression and cultural impacts will remain at the heart of all investigations.
